Mission
Statement

SYRYN RECORDS provides an uplifting platform for women in the music industry to be heard and to AMPLIFY their musical expression. We aren't your typical label -- at SYRYN RECORDS, we center creating a judgment-free, inclusive space in all our practices and are committed to creating an environment where women and gender-marginalized voices thrive, where they're EMPOWERED to make lasting change in the music industry. We bring artists, from all walks of life, dreams to life.

Our History

SYRYN RECORDS is an Amplify Arts Project year-round youth program. It launched in Summer 2020 with the help of a handful of ambitious teen interns and their amazing mentors and culminated in a compilation project featuring 7 youth artists.

Flash forward to our Spring Class of '24, we now have 9 artists working to release their music! Each of our label departments are staffed with aspiring young professionals and guided by industry professionals with years of experience in the business.

Through the power of art and music, our cohort works together to envision and manage a label that puts women and gender marginalized artists at the forefront of their creative journey.

Al Oard
Program Lead

Al Oard is a multi-instrumentalist gear head residing in Portland, Oregon. Intertwining all aspects of the music world has been a driving force of their existence from a young age. As a career path, Al worked in live production and entertainment as a production coordinator, artist liaison, stage manager and a plethora of backend production jobs and has since relocated to the west coast where they've been working as an electronics technician building synthesizers and guitar pedals for the past four years. Bridging the gap between DIY artistry and professional industry is something that they strive to break down barriers between and create impactful achievable ways to become the artist you'd like to be while maintaining individuality. Wrangling all of these skills into one along with the pure joy of working with youth has made a perfect match with Syryn and Amplify.

WHO CREATED THE LABEL?
Syryn Records is a youth-run record label created and owned by Amplify Arts Project (formerly Girls Rock SB), a non-profit organization that empowers girls + gender-expansive youth through music education, the creative arts, community, and positive mentorship. The work coming out of the label is completely youth-created, from initial brainstorming to final publishing, with the support and encouragement of our adult mentors. The youth running the label are artists, musicians, dancers, activists, and creative beings of so many unique genders, bodies, and personalities.

WHEN IS THE NEXT RELEASE DATE FOR YOUR ARTISTS' MUSIC?
Our first cohort released their music in July 2020. In October 2022, we are super excited to be launching the single for our newly signed artist, Heaven! We also plan to release our compilation featuring a new cohort of artists in November 2022!

WHO DO YOU SIGN?
We sign girls, women, and gender-expansive artists ages ~14 to 25 from all genres that are passionate about their music and connect to our mission of uplifting young women and gender expansive folks in the music industry. We work with artists to develop their artistry and provide knowledge and resources to help them level up!

ARE YOU CURRENTLY SIGNING NEW ARTISTS?
We accept artist submissions throughout the year and run two campaigns a year to scout artist for compilation records that feature 8-13 artists. Our Fall compilation album is dropping in November and we are looking forward to sharing the amazing talent we have discovered at Syryn. If you're interested, you can apply directly on our website and send samples of your music. We accept fully-produced songs, demos, and even voice recordings, in mp3 format. Our A&R department cannot wait to listen!

HOW OLD ARE YOUR ARTISTS?
We sign young women and gender-expansive youth ranging from ages ~14-25 years old!

WHAT PLATFORMS CAN I FIND THE ARTISTS ON?
Our cohorts' singles will be available on all major streaming platforms including iTunes, Spotify, SoundCloud, Bandcamp, and Deezer!

WHO MADE THE ART FOR YOUR WEBSITE?
Our talented marketing and art departments created the artwork you see throughout our website! Vivienne, an artist from our 2020 cohort, created the featured gifs and artwork found on the homepage :)

IS THIS AMPLIFY ARTS PROJECT'S LABEL?
Yes! We originally developed the label as an internship program during the COVID-19 pandemic to give our more advanced youth some cool professional music industry experience while they were stuck at home during shutdowns. The label continues to evolve from its summer 2020 pilot-run, and we are so excited to be building Syryn together! We encourage you to learn more about Amplify and DONATE if anything we're accomplishing resonates with you. It's amazing fans like you that keep the Syryn Records dream alive <3
